Users of the ČHMÚ Weather app, introduced last year, have received a long-awaited improvement. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute has introduced a new version of the Meteogram function, which brings a clearer and more interactive graphical weather forecast. It is based on the Aladin numerical model and now allows tracking forecasts up to 72 hours ahead. Thanks to a number of new features, working with the application becomes significantly more intuitive and comfortable.

More data, clearer, in one place

The improved Meteogram offers a total of five meteorological elements that you can track: air temperature, precipitation, wind (including average speed and gusts), relative air humidity, and air pressure converted to sea level. To maintain maximum clarity, it is possible to display a maximum of three elements at once. You can easily select and change them by tapping on the respective element. If you wanted to add a fourth, you must first remove one of the displayed ones.

By default, the Meteogram orientation is set to portrait, but the developers also considered the comfort of users with larger displays. The graph can therefore be switched to landscape mode, which will be especially appreciated by owners of larger smartphones or tablets. There is a special button for this within the interface.

“Our effort is to constantly increase user comfort when working with the mobile application. The improved Meteogram brings not only more data but primarily a more intuitive and modern way of displaying it,” said Stanislava Kliegrová, head of the Department of Meteorology and Climatology at the ČHMÚ Hradec Králové branch.

Interactivity first

Undoubtedly, the key new feature is the improved interaction with the graph. Users can now simply tap within the graph area to display a pop-up window with detailed information for a specific time point. Thanks to this function, you no longer have to guess the exact values from the graph – all data is clearly listed directly on the display.

Within the option to set up your own homepage, the Meteogram banner can be added to the Current tab for selected saved locations according to user preferences. The application thus adapts exactly to your needs and most frequently tracked places.
