The most common surprise for new owners is finding out that regular Nespresso capsules cannot be used in the coffee machine. Vertuo capsules are indeed primarily available online and in official Nespresso stores. You won’t find them much in regular supermarkets yet.

They are also more expensive than standard Nespresso capsules – current prices on the official Nespresso e-shop range from 16.50 Kč to 37.50 Kč per capsule. For example, Cold Brew Style Intense capsules cost 262.50 Kč for a pack of 7 capsules, which works out to 37.50 Kč per capsule. Even common variants like Ice Leggero (16.52 Kč/capsule) or Pistachio Vanilla Flavour (17.86 Kč/capsule) are slightly more expensive than standard capsules. For instance, with Dolce Gusto, you can get a single beverage for under 10 crowns. On the other hand, I personally prefer the taste of the competing Nespresso.

Compact design with minor reservations

With dimensions of 24 × 13.6 × 42.6 cm, the coffee machine takes up minimal space on the kitchen counter. It weighs only 3.5 kg, making it easy to handle. „Small and compact,” one reviewer happily notes. Design-wise, it’s a successful piece, confirmed by numerous ratings – customers particularly appreciate the color variants.

However, the water tank holds only 0.56 liters, meaning you’ll need to refill it quite often. Criticism of the lid mechanism also appears in reviews: „Inserting the tablet, opening, closing could be better designed, you have to push down on the lid, it’s not a happy solution, hopefully it lasts,” notes customer Tereza from Prague.

If you indulged in special variants like Cold Brew Style Intense at 37.50 Kč per capsule, the costs would be even higher. On the other hand, in my opinion, the coffee is tasty, and at today’s cafe prices, a serving still comes out to a relatively reasonable amount.

Noise level and other minor shortcomings

The Nespresso app allows you to monitor the coffee machine’s status, check the water level in the tank, or schedule descaling. You can also use it to set preferred cup sizes for different capsule types and, of course, order new capsules.

However, what the app doesn’t allow is full remote control – you still have to physically insert the capsule and press the button on the coffee machine. Smart features are thus more of an add-on than a necessity. Furthermore, connecting to the app requires registration and creating a Nespresso account.

Pro koho má kávovar smysl

Based on customer reviews and real costs, the Nespresso Vertuo POP is primarily suitable for those who appreciate simplicity, design, and are willing to pay a premium price for convenience. If you only drink one to two coffees a day and value ease of preparation, this system might be an interesting choice.
