Google Fi změna hlasové schránky

If you use the Google Fi service on an iPhone, an important change is coming. Google has announced that users will no longer receive voicemails through the Google Fi app, but directly through the integrated Phone app in iOS.

The change began rolling out this week, but should be fully available to everyone by July 2nd. Access to voicemails through the app will be completely discontinued from August.

This means one very important thing: if you have messages in your voicemail that you want to keep, you should download them via Google Takeout by August 13th. Unfortunately, they will no longer be available in the app after this date.

How did Google Fi voicemails work until now?

Until now, voicemails could occasionally appear in the iOS Phone app only under certain conditions – for example, when the Live Voicemail feature was active, the phone was turned on, and within service range.

In any case, Google hinted at the arrival of this voicemail redirection back in April, so it’s not a shocking change. Moreover, it will solve the common problem of duplicate notifications that announced incoming voicemails both through the Google Fi app and the native Phone app.

Do you think this is a welcome change?
