According to the latest findings, Google is working on a feature called Gemini Space for Pixel phones. According to information discovered by Android Authority in an APK teardown, this new feature could represent a transformation of the current At a Glance feature. It is expected to include a new component labeled Daily Hub, which is strikingly reminiscent of the once-popular Google Now service.

What exactly will Daily Hub offer?

In the discovered code, strings can be found that describe Daily Hub as “a space for content and suggestions that simplify your day”. Google internally uses the codename “subzero” for this feature. It appears the company is returning to the concept of a proactive assistant that will offer users relevant information at the right time – similar to what the popular Google Now once did.

Currently, Pixel phones have the At a Glance feature (labeled as Přehled informací in Czech) on the home screen and lock screen, which displays basic contextual information. Unlike the standard At a Glance widget, which is available for all Android phones with the Google app, this is a specific implementation for Pixels that cannot be removed from the launcher.

Similarity to Samsung’s new feature

Regarding Gemini Space, one cannot help but notice the similarity to features that Samsung has been offering on its flagship phones since the beginning of this year. Specifically, these are Now Bar, a small pill on the lock screen with live app updates, and Now Brief, a full-screen summary of the day displaying the most important information.

Google could follow a similar path, with Gemini Space representing a more comprehensive solution building on the legacy of Google Now. However, it is currently not clear exactly what the user interface will look like or when the feature will reach regular users.

Gemini Space is not the only new feature

Gemini Space is not the only AI feature Google is working on. For the Pixel 10 series, the company is also preparing the Magic Cue feature (previously referred to as Pixie or Pixel Sense). According to recent leaks we reported on, this will be a smart feature that will proactively offer relevant information and actions based on what you are currently doing on your phone. For example, if someone asks you for a flight number in a chat, Magic Cue will automatically find it in Gmail and offer it without the need to switch between apps.

How much are you looking forward to Google’s new AI features?
